Byxbe Pastel - Privately owned

 From the owner.
This is an original painted in pastels, 22X25, matted and framed. It's titled Bastille Day, July 14, 1967. It's a portrait of Don Buckman dressed in a costume. He was Mr Byxbe's neighbor in the 60's and I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was about 14.  I wasn't sure if this painting was listed in any of his work or not, I know he didn't do very many portraits and I am not sure if I have ever seen anything else he did in pastels. It is signed and the title and date are on the mat.

Mr. Buckman was a professional pianist and played in the Wheel in Estes Park in the summers, he also did some paintings, and he helped in the Byxbe Gallery on occasion. I have pictures of him in the gallery. I wish I had gotten some of his work  at the time but I was only in my early teens when we would visit.  I am not sure about pricing on this picture, I only have seen prices for his etchings and a few original things, I know he didn't do a lot of portraits and I'm not sure if there is a lot of pastel work either.
